W Churches, a byword for quality and high standards within the heating and plumbing industry, is throwing its support behind the Government’s boiler scrappage scheme. The Winchester-based company is firmly behind the initiative which guarantees a £400 refund to homeowners who install new boilers. Ian Paxton, Operations Director says: “Old boilers are not only more expensive to run but they are also much less efficient than their modern counterparts. This year’s prolonged cold weather has meant many householders have been faced with a nasty shock when they open January’s utility bills. We are of the opinion that this scheme will save you money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.”

Churches Bucks National Trend

We are looking to recruit apprentices for our mechanical department which specialises in fitting and maintaining heating systems.

We have been training apprentices for over a century and have an impressive record of employees working their way up through the organisation as well as low staff turnover. Current MD Rodney Rich is no exception, having started as a teenage apprentice with Churches. Senior Manager Steve Soper and Supervisor Lawrence Barnaby also both started with Churches straight from school.

The company motto is ‘Times Change, Standards Don’t’ and we believe that we need to keep investing in apprentices because today’s apprentices are tomorrows expert engineers.

Martin Perrin, one of the regions most highly respected sustainable energy specialists has joined Winchester heating, plumbing and electrical contractors Churches. Martin will enable Churches to provide a range of modern renewable and sustainable energy solutions – the solutions that Churches environmentally aware customers are increasingly demanding.

Martin has over 15 years experience within the HVCA industry. Qualified in plumbing, heating, refrigeration and air conditioning Martin trained in design, installation and service of commercial and domestic heating & air conditioning. More recently Martin has specialised in the design and installation of renewable energy systems, such as air and ground source heat pumps, solar power, biomass boilers and rainwater harvesting equipment.
